Waves Gray, Green, Blue
Waves gray, green, blue
Tossed against jutting rocks
Of basalt that flowed from
Volcanoes spurting red hot lava
Even as the skies were gray
Like the waves now battering
What once was red hot and flowing
As a sea of its own but now
Seemingly immovable
Yet yielding pieces to be torn
Away into the strand
Black and shimmering
In the dull light of day
Moving about with the waves
Hiding the shells of clams
Oysters and more as
Crabs scuttle away into the
Waves gray, green, blue.

About This Poem
I was inspired to write this after a trip to Kauai, Hawaii and some of its rocky shores. That's exactly what this poem is about. The picture is of Spouting Horn on Kauai.
